Surah Al-Baqarah [2:185-187] tells us how it is during Ramadhan!

“The month of Ramadhan [ is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [ the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey- then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [ to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.” [ Al- Baqarah 2:185]

” And when My servants ask you, [ O Muhammad], concerning Me- indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.  So let them respond to Me [ by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.” [ Al-Baqarah 2:186]

” It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [ for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you [ i.e., offspring]. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the night [i.e., sunset]. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [ set by] Allah, so do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His verses [i.e., ordinances] to the people that they may become righteous.” [Al-Baqarah 2:187]

My First Ramadhan ! Alhamdulilah!

La Ilaha IllAllah

AssalamAlykum !!!

May Allah have mercy upon us and may He cleans and purify our hearts and souls this Ramadhan so that we can continue our path in this dunya with full force imaan and tawqwah AMEEN!

My sisters in Islam, and my friends I hope you are all well.

Since my arrival in North Kentucky, it has been yet a uneventful one (Alhamdulillah), though I have been getting myself hurt more now, but maybe that is because I’m just clumsy. Other than that, I feel quite lonely sometimes. Lonely, but never alone of course! I have my Rabb, Allah. Today I feel different. Perhaps it is because it is my very first Ramadhan and many more to come inshAllah.

Last night I learnt Al-Qursi and realised I know how to read Arabic MashAllah. I am not a pro (yet) inshAllah I plan on becoming one! But it did take a while. I practised reading and reciting over and over and at first I thought to myself, WOW! How am I ever going to get through this? All I see right now is a bunch of Arabic letters and symbols. I said Bismillah and began to recite. My husband is from Saudi, so his native tongue is Arabic, and he was the one who ever so patiently MashAllah, dealt with me (lol!).

an hour and a half later MashAllah I learnt it, but now I have to memorize it! After reciting this ayat I wasn’t tired at all and it was 3am!!! It actually gave me a second wind of energy and I was able to stay up for sahur and fajr.

Ramadhan is a time (so I’ve been told) to reflect on yourself and as a Muslim. Have you been fulfilling your obligation to Allah, your Creator? Have you been praying your 5 daily prayers on time? Have you been doing any voluntary fasts? What about the way you treat your parents? I have answered all these questions but I feel like there is still many more.

This Ramadhan I plan on asking Allah to forgive me for my sins and my shortcomings, to cleanse and purify my heart and soul, and most importantly to help me develop my imaan and tawqa to a greater level that I will be able to change as a whole and to be a better Muslim.

Since coming to Islam, I have learnt so much about myself, and I have felt at peace (for the most part 😉 ) I put my trust in Allah (though, I’m still learning to completely put my whole trust in him). I have had a lot of time to reflect and to talk to Allah from the heart. I understand how blessed I am and how I must thank Allah everyday and ask to become more like our dear Prophet (saw), or at least like Khadijah 🙂

I’m learning that alone time is not to feel lonely and sad. I have my husband to talk to but nobody can really ever understand what I feel in my heart except Allah. Nobody can fill my heart up with food and nurture as much as Allah, He is the almighty one who knows everything I feel. So, perhaps my move to North Kentucky is meant for me to get closer to Allah, AllahHualam. I must use this month in Ramadhan to feel closer to Allah and to ask him for guidance and persistence to fight through this crazy dunya and the shaitan.

I look forward to expanding my blog and may we have more followers soon inshAllah.

May Allah bless you and guide you on your journey in Ramadhan and the months following, and may you all continue to ask Allah to seek more knowledge so we can spread the love of Islam.

JazakAllah Kheyr.

ISLAM vs. Christianity…..the grand debate!

Compare Texts And Teachings For Yourself
What is the Difference and Similarities?
(Qur’an teachings highlighted in green)

God Almighty (Allah) is the only Creator of all that exists.

God Almighty (Yahweh also pronounced Jahovah) is the only Creator of all that exists. (Gen. 1:1)

There is only One God (Allah). Prophets are Adam, Abraham, Moses and Jesus Christ (born without father as miracle birth, preformed miracles) and Muhammad is the last prophet. All prophets said, “God is One and you have to serve Him, alone without partners“. And Jesus us coming back in the Last Days.

There is only One God. But (according to Christians) He exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son (Jesus is God’s son and also a Holy Spirit) and all of them together are a One-God-Trinity. (But there is no “Trinity” in the Bible) And Jesus is coming back in the Last Days.

Almighty God reveals Himself as “One God” with 99 Divine Attributes – But never compares Himself with anything in His creation.

Almighty God has revealed Himself as “One God” and “One Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:3; Mark 12:29)

ORIGIN OF MAN – Allah created man from dirt and “in His image” and of “His spirit,” yet God has no likeness of anything in creation.

ORIGIN OF MAN – God created man from dirt and the image of God and of His spirit. But the Lord has to go looking for Adam (Genesis 1 & 2)

SIN – Adam sinned and Eve sinned, but they repented and were forgiven, with no continuing effects on their children.

SIN – Eve made Adam sin and thus brought sin into the world, so Eve is cursed and their sins are passed on to their children. (Genesis 3:1-7)

ORIGINAL FORGIVENESS – God Forgives Adam and Eve after they repent. Then He makes Adam his deputy (caliph) and the first prophet. (no curse of God on Eve)

ORIGINAL SIN – all of Adam’s posterity are born with a sin nature and are sinful from birth (Romans 3:22-23, 1st John 1:10)

Man is basically good but prone to mistakes. Muslims who repent and submit to God are forgiven without intercession from Christ (or anyone) needed.

Man is by nature sinful and has need for redemption by the atonement of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:6, 8:32, Colossians 1:19-20, Hebrews 7:26-27, 9:26, 10:12, 1st John 4:10)

SALAVATION – Through submission to GOD’S Will on earth – in peace, anyone, anytime, any place can be a servant of Almighty God and draw closer to Him to be Forgiven by Him.

SALAVATION – God is Jesus and dies on a cross for sins of people He calls His children and they are all forgiven just for believing this story. (Romans 8:14-15, Ephesians 1:5, Galatians 4:5)

Allah is not like His creation. He is neither male nor female, nor is creation like Him.

Bible says; “God is not a man… not the son of man..” (Numbers 23:19*) Other places contradicts this(?) *corrected June 19, 2010

  20. Allah guarantees him who strives in His Cause and whose motivation for going out is nothing but Jihad in His Cause and belief in His Word, that He will admit him into Jannah. [Bukhari]
  21. O people, spread the salaam (greetings), feed the hungry, and pray while the people are asleep, you will enter Jannah in peace. [Tirmidhi]
  22. (The performance of) Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous Umrah; and the reward of Hajj Mabrur (i.e., one accepted) is nothing but Jannah. [Bukhari]
  23. Allah has ninety-nine Names, one hundred minus one, and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Jannah. [Bukhari]
  24. I saw a man going about in Jannah (and enjoying himself) as a reward for cutting from the middle of the road, a tree which was causing inconvenience to the Muslims[Muslim]
  25. O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You created me and I am You servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You. “If somebody recites this invocation during the day, and if he should die then, he will be from the people of Jannah. And if he recites it in the night, and if he should die on the same day, he will be from the people of Jannah.” [Bukhari]

Ramadhan: The month to clean your heart and soul with Allah.

`I found a reason to start over new, that reason is YOU O ALLAH`. This should be our slogan for Ramadhan, write it in a notepad, say it to yourself, stick it on the side of a magnet on your fridge door, whatever works for you. If we love someone we are willing to change our ways to please them, if we truly love Allah, why then do we find it so hard to change our old bad habits for His sake? Subhanallah. What is holding us back from becoming better servants of Allah, from becoming the best Muslims that we can be? From getting to the next level with regards to our relationship with Allah? Nothing else other than our vanity, self-possession, and the love to follow whatever our souls dictate to us, subhanallah! May Allah help and have mercy on us. If we truly love Allah, let that love be the reason for us to transform into better individuals during this coming blessed month of Ramadhan. Subhanallah everyone has something that is the centre of their attention, some people are obsessed about their gadgets, some people run day and night chasing after their careers, during this blessed of Ramadhan, let us make Allah the centre of our lives. We have the potential to come out of this coming blessed month with our sins forgiven given we take advantage it. We have the potential to establish the strongest connections with Allah given we take the first step to turn to Him, given we struggle to purify our intentions for His sake and live our lives to seek His pleasure. After all, eman is a struggle, we need to constantly put an effort to maintain our emans at a higher level. Whatever your spiritual state  is right now, don`t give up,  we know from the statement of the Qur’an that nobody gives up from the mercy of Allah except the disbelievers, so tighten your belts, take hold of this golden opportunity of Ramadhan and Allah will change your situation. Remember that this could be your last Ramadhan, you never know if you will live to the next Ramadhan, so don`t waste it! Plan ahead of time, develop a schedule for Ramadhan, plan to increase your worship-your recitation of the Quràn, your voluntary prayers, improve your Salah, dhikr, increase your Islamic knowledge etc. Ward off distractions, give something up for the sake of Allah, be it some form of entertainment like T.V or facebook or anything that you find distracting you from Allaah. Remember anything that you work hard for, it will eventually become precious  and dear to you that you won`t let go easily. If you work hard to develop a stronger connection with Allah, you are not going to let it go easily and thus you will work hard to maintain it insha Allah. Also, come up with a dua list before Ramadhan and make those duas through out Ramadhan insha Allah. And lastly don`t forget your brothers and sisters who are suffering in other parts of the world.
May Allah not make us among the people who remind others to do good and forget it ourselves and may He protect us from shirk in any form or shape, ameen.
May Allah accept from us and make us sincere in our words and actions. O Allah guide every misguided servants of yours, change our situation for better, and always make us sincere to you, ameen.

Why Women Cry.

A beautiful story I found on

Why Women Cry

A little boy asked his mother, “Why are you crying?”

“Because I need to” she said.

“I don’t understand,” he  said.

His Mom just hugged him and said, “And you never will.”

Later the little boy asked his father, “Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?”

“All women cry for no reason,” his dad answered carelessly.

The little boy, still wondering why women cry, finally asked the old wise shaikh (scholar). “He surely knows the answer”, he thought. “Ya Shaikh! Why do women cry so  easily?”

The Shaikh answered: “When Allah made the woman she had to be made so special. He made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. He gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that comes from her children. He gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining. He gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child hurts her very badly. He gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. He gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. And lastly, He gave her a tear. This is hers and only hers exclusively to use  whenever she needs it. She needs no reason, no explanation, its hers.”

“You see my son, the beauty of a  woman is not in the clothes she wears, the beauty of her face, or the way she combs her hair.  The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart – the place where love resides.”

The little boy got the answer and never asked the question again.

July 15th

A Day in the life of a New Muslim….

Today Alhamdulillah (Thanks be to God) was a great day! Since I have been married, I started a new routine with my husband Alhamdulillah which took a bit of time getting used to. I stay up well through the night until Fajr prayer (morning prayer). This is no struggle for me as I am currently relaxing and enjoying the summer with my husband Alhamdulillah, and besides, after Fajr we sleep until Duhr (mid-afternoon prayer) ! For Allah, NOTHING is hard. Think of our Dear Prophet Muhammad (Peace be onto him) and what he went through!!!!!

So after Fajr prayer I made breakfast for my sweet husband and he was getting ready to go to Jummat (Friday congregation) prayer. I prayed Duhr and made du’aa (supplications) and after that I decided to do some yoga and clean up the home. My days feel so long sometimes I don’t even remember what I did!!! But Alhamdulillah at least I remember the most important things.

I am starting to find that exercising is getting soooo boring! I do the p90 yoga and the male on the dvd talks way too much Mashallah! But I am so used to this dvd I can do pretty much the poses by myself Mashallah and I don’t wait for him to finish talking. Alas! I finished the yoga!

After this I got ready and waited for my friend Liz (my non-Muslim friend) to visit me 🙂 During the waiting period I decided to check out some dawah websites and came across which is a website catered towards new reverts to Islam!!! Alhadulillah, Allah guides me each and every day to discover more websites to help make my transition into Islam easier. Subhanallah! I always like to search websites about other new Muslims and see how they are experiencing their new found glory of Islam! How blessed we all are Alhamdulillah.

So Liz arrived on time today Alhamdulillah and we were talking about my move to North Kentucky, Ohio! Inshallah may Allah guide my husband and I safely and uneventfully.

I will be relocating there Inshallah as my husband will be studying at the university of North Kentucky, and I will be taking Dr. Bilal Philips online Islamic University ! Mashallah. Alahamdulillah. Subhanallah!

Allah loves those who seek knowledge.

“It is only those who have knowledge amongst His slaves that fear Allah.” [Soorah Al-Fatir (35): 28]

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “If
anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, God
will cause him to travel on one of the roads of
Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their
great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge. The
inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and
(even) the fish in the deep waters will ask
forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of
the learned over the devout is like that of the moon,
on the night when it is full, over the rest of the
stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave
(no monetary inheritance), they leave only knowledge,
and he who takes it takes an abundant portion.
{Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1631}

HOW BEAUTIFUL!?!?!??!?!!? Wallahi’, I LOVE ISLAM.

We must take the days that Allah has given us and use them to our advantage. He created us with a brain and the ability to learn and take the things we’ve learned and put them through into actions! What kind of knowledge have you been seeking lately?

Anyway! back to my day (sorry I get so excited sometimes talking about Islam I get sidetracked, please forgive me sisters!)

Liz and I talked for a bit and then my dear sister in Islam came to visit me! I met her at the Journey of Faith Conference this year Alhamdulillah!!!

It was a beautiful afternoon with two very dear friends. We had a great discussion about Islam and Christianity. Liz is a practising Christian who seems to really find the teachings of Islam beautiful and befitting to her. May Allah guide her to Islam!

The Afternoon came and went and I prayed Asr with my dear sister 🙂

The day came and went……SO FAST Subhanallah! (The SIGNS of the Qiyamah(Day of Judgement) are fast approaching!)

My dear sister Iliyasa and I are currently working on a great Dawah project Inshallah, may Allah help us and guide us all in this Ummah to be closer together.

I will write more tomorrow Inshallah!

Your Sister in Islam, Khadijah

Assalamualaykum wahrahmatalahi wabarakatu!!!

What a long day !
I hope all my dear sisters are doing well and had a great Saturday! It was really hot today ! But I am getting used to the hijab and decided that wearing white on hot days like today keeps me quite cool 🙂

So my eventful day started out with my fajr prayer and then I went back to sleep for a few hours and woke up before my hubby so I ate some really good Chinese bakery from the T n T supermarket !! I actually spent some time with my mother and attempted to watch her Chinese shows but I really don’t find any entertainment at all in old women with an overdone face sitting around a table and eating food critiquing it! StefurAllah( forgive me Allah) what is the dunya coming to these days?
Being a new Muslimah I have really changed my lifestyle for the better. This includes the way I treat my parents. For as long as I could remember I was always spoiled and treated my parents the way the western culture treats everyone. Need I say more we all know how the western culture is like even if you weren’t born in a western country. Anyway, Islam has taught me so much and I am still seeking knowledge!!
Here I get sidetracked again, forgive me sisters!!

So back to my day… I prayed duhr and got ready to head out with my husband and my parents to head to my uncles BBQ.
We arrive and by this time it was time for asr and I told him we were going to use a room upstairs to pray. Luckily alhamdulilah my family has no issues with me and my reversion of Islam. They occasionally do make the ignorant remarks but I just bite my tongue and only Allah can judge them.
After we pray all my cousins and aunt and uncle arrive and we begin to talk and I was making my signature pizzas yum!!!
I won’t go into play by play detail of what we did next because it was nothing exciting however I will tell you how it feels to be around my family with my new found identity as a Muslim.

It feels different. I feel like I can see clearly now how so many people including my family is so immersed in this Dunya. Nobody really asks me about my religion as I think they think they may offend me but I’m sure it would offend me more if they were talking behind my back. I know it’s my duty to talk to hem about Islam but I’m still not too sure how. I have been sending them email links and articles in Chinese but nobody has dared to ask me anything. It’s sort of like a topic that is ignored. Which makes me feel like they don’t really care. But sadly my family has become westernized as well. I know it will just take time before I become a pro in dawah inshallah and Allah will help guide me and I will find a way!!!!!!!

The night finally ended and we headed home and prayed isha. I must tell you, today I discovered another reason out of the many as to why we Muslims pray 5 times a day! To keep ourselves SANE from the dunya. After spending the day with my family I was anticipating the maghrib adhan during the BBQ. A Muslim can ONLY sit through so much of the dunya until they go crazy without praying. Praying refreshes your physical and mental state and reminds you that Allah is so merciful and so kind and so amazing!!!!! Subhanallah! I believe until I can start giving my family the they need, I centre myself and keep my deen strong by taking the time out of my day to worship Allah subhannah watalah.

Your dear sister in Islam

July 19.2011

My dear sisters how are you all doing? Inshallah well.
Here I am making an entry while I wait for fajr prayer at 4:09am today! I am so sleepy!!!! But inshallah today I will be fasting so I have to stay up to have my sahur( the meal you have before you fast)…. Ramadan is fast approaching!!!! Are you ready? It will be my first Ramadan so inshallah it will be exciting!!
Nothing too much out of the ordinary happened today except I am starting to pack for my relocation to the US with my hubby. We are moving to north Kentucky inshallah where I believe the Muslim community is close to none! But may Allah the almighty guide us and help us through our journey inshallah.

The most eventful part of my day was breaking my fast and reading the Quran but the English version. Inshallah I will learn the Quran in Arabic soon after my islamic online university course- or perhaps during! But I was never great with prioritizing so it’s best I focus on one thing at a time( see how I get so sidetracked?!) anyway so my husband was also reading the Quran but the actual book in Arabic and he told me to look at surah (14:38 Ibrahim) and I wanted to include this ayah in my blog:

” Do not think God is unaware of the wrongdoers’ actions. He only gives them respite till the Day on which all eyes will stare fixedly in horror. They will hurry in fright, their heads lifted up, their gaze directed forward, their minds utterly void.” (14:38)
And also
” On the day when the earth shall be changed into another earth, as shall be the heavens, they will all appear before God, the One, The Most Supreme. On that Day you shall see the guilty bound chains, their garments shall be of pitch and the fire shall envelop their faces.”{14:48}
“God will requite each soul according to it’s deeds.Swift is God’s reckoning” {14:51}

Now tell me , do these words not speak of truth? They are so powerful!!! On the Day of Judgement you will be questioned before God whether or not you tried to spread the love of Islam to your neighbor and to your family and friends.
What would you tell Allah?

July 23,2011
Assalamalykum !
Wow what a long day today!
As I’m writing this I am still in the car on my way to Cincinnati Ohio!
What an adventure it’s been thus far. Alhamdulillah a very uneventful adventure. Is that contradicting? If so forgive me, I am so tired!
We decided to take the bus to buffalo where my husbands friend was to meet us and we would drive to Cincinnati! Let me tell you how the day went so far!
I had trouble sleeping because I was so nervous! Leaving behind my home country to relocate to another place so absorbed by the dunya has got me so anxious! SubahanAllah.
So we everything was running on time until we got to the bus station where our bus was 30 minutes late!!! InshAllah it finally came and we boarded and headed to buffalo.
It was a nice quiet time to reflect and remember Allah. That’s all I can do since I’m out of commission if you know what I mean! I read some of my Qur’an my dear sister Iliyasa gave to me. It has the English version and Arabic right beside it. It is so perfect alhamdulilah !

We arrived at the border and because my husband is from Saudi Arabia you can imagine what we went through!! However, alhamdulilah it was better than expected. They asked a bunch of questions and we were held for quite some time. They asked him a bunch of things and ran some scans on his last name lol and scanned his fingerprints  it was almost like something out of a movie. We finally were good to go and then we heard our bus broke down! SubhanAllah! How Allah tests our patience is such a great thing!
So my husbands friend came to meet us at the border but his phone died! Lol I could do nothing but smile. Here we both are in this new city and we were stranded for a short while. I was not worried at all to be honest because I knew Allah was helping us but He was just testing our patience and I know He was doing nothing bur helping us grow some patience !
We ended up meeting his friend at the original meeting spot and we were finally on our way to kentucky.

The drive was smooth except there was a brief thunderstorm and it was hard for us to see the road so we had to pull over for a bit.
The highlight of my whole trip to Kentucky was seeing my husband pray in the parking lot of our pitstop! SubhanAllah . Of course I would have too but unfortunately I am out of commission 😦 !!!
InshAllah soon.
I miss Allah when I don’t get to pray but it’s best to read Qur’an and always remember Allah and our dear prophet (pbuh) .

So we finally arrive at 2am and we were roaming around cincinnati for a while trying to find a hotel!!! Can you believe that the day we come into the city all the hotels are booked?? It’s not even a long weekend lol!
ALAS! we find a dingy motel and fall asleep. Alhamdulillah.

July 24,2011

The sleep in the dingy motel was actually quite good, maybe because I was so tired.
Let me tell you , being in this state is so different I honesty believe I am the ONLY muslimah here. I guess there is a reason for this, Allahuma alam. We will see what Allah has in store for us!
Today we started our day off checking out the university campus mashAllah it’s huge and then we saw our home and it’s soooo big mashAllah!! Lots of furniture to fill up the place . Alhamdullilah. Then we went to get our furniture , wow it’s a lot cheaper than toronto and the people here SO far are quite polite I’m not used to it! People in Toronto are so rude!!!!
After a brief tour of cincinnati ( which is like 10 minutes away from north Kentucky) we went  to eat at a mediterranean restaurant ! The food was really good alhamdulillah!! Things here are WAY cheaper mashAllah!

Anyway after a short day which felt like a very long one, I am back at the dingy motel appreciating my day and remembering Allah and our dear prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Stay tuned for my next entry!
Hope you are all doing well .
